What in nature describes me? Is it something complex; like a web of tree roots? No. It is nothing more than the cup that holds the acorn. Not the acorn itself, but the involucre. The cup connects the tree to the acorn, working not for its own benefit -- for what use may the cup find in holding on to the acorn? The acorn is nourished and supported while it grows by the cup and it remains part of the tree and the acorn before leaving both. Like I may cling to my parents and stand between them and my younger siblings; one day I will let go of the strong parental tree. My siblings who I have helped to grow will leave me also and i’ll be left with neither. The involucre is rough on the outside and smooth on the inside. I may seem like I can be rough and tough enough to take much that people throw at me, but inside feelings are hidden. For now the cup acts as the connection between the acorn and the tree, but eventually they will all separate and the weight of the acorn will be bore no more by the involucre.
